The large-scale paper installations are based on the printed elements of toy packaging. Taking shape as the starting point, meaning is explored within its contours, the way individual shapes turn into physical and metaphorical pattern. In the paper work, the cutting of shapes and repetition of form is a performance. The printed elements are repeatedly copied on a home printer, bound by the capabilities of this familiar technology, and relying on the fading and changing of color as the ink cartridges run out. Familiar and colorful forms and details give way to pure shape. The newest paper pieces rely on a gel medium substrate and acrylic paint, taking on a skin-like sculptural appearance.
